Web-based Health Outcome Surveys

Led technology decisions for company in implementing web-based health outcomes surveys. Designed three new web sites, key contributor to product design and development and policy decisions. Introduced new software design standards, web technologies and platforms, moving from Visual Basic to Java, Perl, XML and object-oriented design using RAD. Contributed to design of new Web Surveys with features directed toward Direct-To-Consumer pharmaceutical industry requirements for respondent demographics, compliance and tracking. Improved and enhanced Computer Adaptive Testing algorithms (Item Response Theory); scoring algorithms, survey reporting, linking to customer websites, best user interface design techniques. Created revenue-producing programs: e-Commerce site, doubling printed materials sales and created Research Community website, producing a 4-fold increase in traffic. Technologies: Linux/Apache and Windows2000/IIS, MS Exchange, IRT

Remote Message-Based Cardiac Patient-Monitoring System

Implemented real-time message-based client/server system to monitor high-risk cardiac patients. Patient logs activity remotely by using patient PDAs, and downloaded data into a centralized Domino database and a monitoring application for hospital staff. Client/server system notifies cardiac nurses and cardiologists on daily basis of warning or critical status of patients nutritional intake, exercise, smoking and other risk factors. Includes message-based patient-cardiologist communication program for questions and advice.

Technologies: Lotus Domino, LotusScript, ODBC, SQL, Notes Scripting

Automated reminder system

Created requirements specification, design and implementation of a transaction processing solution in an Ingres SQL database program for a computerized mammogram reminder system. Created commercial product for a private HMO using patient database to query using physician-created complex risk criteria for women who need automated reminders to obtain mammograms. Program proven to increase utilization of mammograms and decrease mortality from breast cancer.

Clinical Trial Software

Designed and implemented “Mindshare Project," a program of distributed services for data management, telecommunication, email, document processing and research projects in a Lotus Notes client-server environment. Notes database and application design, middleware, ODBC, SQL applications. Oversee planning and data management of many research studies, including modifications of budgets, coordination of multi-site data collection and developing project management software. Data manager of an $11 million Women’s Health Initiative study site.
